Well...today is going to be a huge step for me...I'm entering the main internet media! I'm joining Facebook! I'm only doing it strictly for the business. I know I said I wasn't going to, but numerous business owners and fellow Etsy shops said it really boosted their sales. So here I go...I'm jumping in with both feet! It's kind of exciting and nerve wrecking. I haven't been on Facebook for years. I don't want all that past drama to ruin my business. But then again, if I don't try I'll never know what may come of it. What will be really nice is that I can connect my blogs and my shop all together.
On another note...I have a wonderful friend buying a custom baby quilt bundle for her cousin! I'm so excited! The theme is Mickey Mouse and LA Dodgers. It's going to come out so adorable. It was a very interesting request and surprisingly found the perfect fabric! I also have another specific request...a family member wants me to turn her wedding dress into a quilt! I'm really anxious to start this one. There is going to be so many details in the dress...and turning it into a quilt is going to be a challenge for me. I'm trying to find as many ideas as I can and pick the one I think would work well. I may even do this to my wedding dress. And who knows...maybe I'll do memory wedding dress quilts on the side since they will take much more work.
Well...I better get off to an early start of creating! I'll keep everyone posted on my Facebook account. Until then...Have a wonderful day!
This blog is going to be about my journey of trying to accomplish a successful Etsy shop while balancing life into the mix. I also hope that this blog will help inspire others to make that first step...no matter how scary it may seem. You never know how something is going to be unless you try.

Good Morning World!
Well...another week, another day, another moment had passed us by. I'm still creating and trying to boost inventory. I'm now making tooth fairy pillows, lap quilt bundles (includes lap quilt and matching pillow), baby quilt bundles (includes a baby/toddler quilt, 2 burp cloths, and 2 cloth play blocks), and small pet throw beds. I have so many ideas and creations that I want to do...and then I check on Etsy to see if anyone else is doing them...what do you know...of course! There are so many wonderful artisans, creators, and beautiful art work out there.
It's very hard to be competitive, advertise, and market one's shop. I'm really trying hard to do it the 'old fashion' way by not joining Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, or any other similar avenue. I feel that these venues are making people less sociable in the real world. Yes, it's a great way to reconnect with family and friends that life miles away...but very rarely will a stranger in your own home town will wave, say "hello", or even smile. Some people seem like it's totally forbidden to even talk to a stranger in the supper market..and if you do they get defensive like you're after them or something.
I mat have mentioned before...but my true goal is to have enough inventory to join a craft fair or the farmer's market. I enjoy talking to people and telling them my story of how my creations all started. And you'd be surprised...many people have a similar story. It really is a small world and we are not that much different from one another...even though we act like it. Well...enough of me babbling...time to get creating! Have a wonderful and inspiring day!

Another Week...
Well...I'm still in the promoting and creating phase of my shop. I'm really trying to find that 'nitch' that separates me from the other sellers. It's very hard....but I'm trying.
I now am selling pet throw beds, baby quilts, lap quilts, and tooth fairy pillows. I am hoping to create items that spark people's childhood memories. Like for instance: I remember always having a tooth fairy pillow! Whenever I lost a tooth my cute pillow would lay beside me as I slept. I would wake up in the morning to find wonderful little treasures of money inside that tiny little pocket! It was something I always looked forward to. As I got older and learned who snuck those little treasures...I would try to stay awake and catch them in the 'act'. I still loved every little joy and excitement that came with opening those little gifts or rolled money. It was a big devastation when I stopped losing teeth...it meant no more treasures and time to grow up. Right? But who says we have to grow up...now as a mother, I'm going to start the tradition again! I can't wait to see Nathaniel's reactions upon receiving those gifts! And as for my quilts...who doesn't love to snuggle with something beautifully made and warm. Women, men, children, young, old, even pets...everyone loves to feel special, loved, and cared for. I hope that my creations will make everyone feel that way each time they use them.
